Non-urgent medical appointments are booked on the basis of an assessment of the need for treatment. It is not possible to directly book a doctor‘s appointment through our services. When you contact the health centre, an assessment of your treatment needs is always made first.
An assessment of your treatment needs will always be made by telephone, through an electronic contact request (Klinik) or, if necessary, you will be invited to see a nurse for a more detailed assessment of your treatment needs. The assessment of the need for treatment is not made through Maisa.
If you have a chronic disease that requires monitoring and for which you need an appointment for an annual or periodic check-up, please contact your health centre’s care team (MyTeam) electronically or by telephone. Annual check-ups are non-urgent care and you may have to wait for a response. Please note that you cannot book an appointment or make an assessment of your treatment needs through Maisa.

We have launched an operating policy to intensify cooperation between VAKE and the occupational healthcare services. The aim is to support working people’s ability to work as effectively as possible.
VAKE’s outpatient healthcare services refer people to occupational healthcare, for example, when a person is planning to return to work after a sick leave, or when they are considering whether their workload could be adjusted to make it easier for them to work despite an illness or symptom. Referrals are also made in situations where an occupational health perspective on working ability is needed.
With the operating model, longer periods of sick leave are generally not given in VAKE, but the responsibility for assessing working ability is transferred to occupational health services. When assessing the need for sick leave, the occupational health physician will assess your ability to work, taking into account your job duties and your workplace’s possibilities for adapting your work.
In order for the occupational health service to fully support you, it is important that all medical records are available to the occupational health service in the Kanta archive and that the occupational health service’s records are visible to VAKE. You can ensure the visibility of your medical records at https://www.kanta.fi/en/mykanta.
Your medical records can only be viewed by the healthcare professional treating you to the extent necessary for your treatment, and there will always be a record of access to your records. The staff of both occupational healthcare and VAKE have a duty of confidentiality with regard to information about your state of health.
Working ability support and planning for return to work are part of the statutory tasks of occupational healthcare for all paid workers. If you do not know the occupational healthcare provider of your workplace, contact your supervisor.
To ensure that your matter can be taken forward quickly at the occupational health service, contact your own occupational health nurse via the occupational health service’s electronic services or through the general appointment system. Book a call time with your occupational health nurse and tell them that the matter concerns the cooperation with VAKE in the framework of the TYÖOTE activities.
